Loose Leaf Tea vs. Tea Bag Tea What's The Difference?

Have you ever accidentally torn open a tea bag? Maybe one was already torn when you opened your box of tea? Or maybe your curiosity got the better of you one day and you decided to tear one of the little bags open to take a peak inside for yourself? No? Maybe you should, if you haven't had the chance to take a look at what you have been drinking all these years, or better yet, the sad leftovers you have been using instead of treating yourself to the amazingness of what real tea is meant be.........
That is a question that makes some people scratch their heads when they empty the little tea bags of their contents and see the very fine coffee ground like substance before them. It is what we in the tea industry loving call tea dust, but the proper name for it is tea fannings, or small left over bits of tea leaves and parts that did not make it into loose leaf tea. These are the lowest grade teas on the scale and are used due to the tiny size in that they can infuse quickly in the tea bags to create a fast strong brew, which can often become bitter. Though many high end tea sellers do use quality tea in mass produced tea bags, one must also keep in mind tea in bags can go stale rather quickly due to air exposure.
The answer would be much shorter if the question was what is not so great about loose leaf tea? The answer would be: Nothing! The difference between loose leaf and tea dust is literally all in the words.....dust and leaf you are brewing the entire leaf of the tea (or the herb, but we will get into that later!) each time you infuse a cup of tea. Just imagine how much more aroma, intense flavor, and health benefits you are getting each and every time you take a sip of that wonderful brew! Aaahhh, amazing!!!!!
Still not convinced? Okay, how about avoiding the microplastics found in tea bags? Or the fact you can re-steep your tea, so loose leaf tea is actually cheaper than tea bags? Or brewing a cup of loose leaf tea is just fun and relaxing at the same time? Or it can be addicting collecting loose leaf tea accessories? Or that you can find super amazing freshly made hand crafted small batch flavors that you can not possibly find in mass produced tiny tea bags?
